    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time at Bosch, my placement was everything I had hoped it to be. I was really able to get involved as a valued member of the team in a wide variety of topics.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I instantly felt like part of the team and from the onset was asked exactly what I wanted from my placement and how my team could help me achieve that.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was always support and guidance available from my direct managers as well as many other colleagues. I knew that I could approach anyone if I had a problem.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My daily tasks always varied but due to the nature of the work we did in HR some weeks were a lot busier than others. This was, to begin with a weakness for me. However the support from the rest of the team made it possible and over time I was able to manage my time better and prepare for the busy periods.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From the beginning of my placement I was assigned topics an tasks that would solely be my responsibility and that if weren't completed correctly would affect the reputation of the company.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement has given me a real taster into full time work in a large business. It allowed me to see many aspects of business that I had read about and had lectures on first hand. My degree is very broad and spending 14 months in the HR department has confirmed my passion and drive to continue my studies in HR and aim for a career in, in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Due to the nature of our work in HR we sat in a office solely for HR employees. The atmosphere in the office changed day to day depending on who was in. Some days it would be very quiet with managers out the office with meetings. The atmosphere was always great though, as a department everyone got on so well and were always happy to help each other.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the entire placement was well organised, we are given a great balance of support and free rein to allow us to really get out of the placement what we wanted. initially our predecessors stay on for 3-4 week period to provide us with a handover period to ensure all tasks are handed over and we are happy to complete tasks alone when they leave. All students are enrolled on a student program called build that helps us adjust to full time work which is very useful.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was many training courses we could enrol on, all it required was a conversation with my manager and if she agreed it was beneficial to me I was able to do it.
