    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really very enjoyable; both the people and the work you get contributes to that

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Ive had an award in recognition of the value I have contributed to the team

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • When I got too busy they helped me re-prioritise, when confused they would help and I have weekly sessions to discuss what I want with my manager

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There are always things to do but as you learn your job and you get quicker you are more than welcome to find a project in another team and get more experience that way. When things get busy the managers do take note and offer assitsance

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You have a real job that someone else would need to do if you werent there. I have led a project and am continuously taking on more challenging tasks with greater responsibility.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • You really develop your uses for Excel and personally I have been able to work on presentations and confidence which will help me in whatever I do next

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Positive surroundings but still serious and very quiet at times

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • You have a good length of time for handover from your previous intern and get given a buddy for the year who is someone you can ask questions you wouldnt want to ask your manager. The points this years students have made as areas of improvement are already being worked on for us so they will listen if you want to change something. It all works very well.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have had some internal training and have a meeting with my manager once a quarter to discuss what areas I want to develop and how I want to go about it. My manager will help me to talk to the right people/look in the right places in order to action these ideas.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Socialising with other interns is what you make of it - theres 60 of us

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Rent is relatively cheap

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Really not up to much, but it is close enough to go to Reading which is much better

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is a group you can become a member (for £5 a month) that gives you discounts to various events up and down the country (comedy shows, go karting, concert tickets etc.) and then there are also companies that come in and do pilates or martial arts at lunch for a couple of weeks

    4/5
