    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • • Facilitated and managed technical engagements with Intel partner Wipro from pre-sales inception through proof-of-concept and final deployment. • Liaised with Cloud experts to perform benchmarking analysis of various cloud instances for partner companies, including Wipro and Accenture. • Engaged with customer technical stakeholders to develop the value of Intel vPro and successfully market Intel’s products and services. • Drove awareness and early adoption of new Intel technologies, platforms, working mainly on Intel vPro technology. • Influenced UK and EMEA Technical Sales teams with deploying effective strategies such as implementing Agile practices within the team. • Addressed within a global organization with teams based in multiple time zones.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, I have gained professional skills needed in the workplace and this internship enabled me to gain practical real-world experience of working in a global organization. Communication, networking, presentation skills are some of the soft skills I learnt alongside learning technical skills on the job. I also developed my technical skillset, learned a lot about Intel products and technologies and promoted them during my internship working in the sales department, the year in industry has definitely made me more ready for the workplace after graduation.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was in charge of major projects during my course of internship with the company where I contributed to the business value of the wider team which gave me a sense of confidence and responsibility, interns were treated as important as full-time employees at the company which was a refreshing experience and meant that we were given responsibility and accountability of the work we did as interns. So, it was a meaningful and satisfying experience overall.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • In terms of support and guidance, I had a on-the-job coach throughout the course of my internship which was really beneficial as they helped me build a lot of confidence and regular mentoring/coaching which helped me quite a lot. There were times where I wasn't sure of what I was supposed to do, but with their help the process became easier and I got the idea and what was expected of me in the role and in the team.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Company culture was a big thing at Intel, from values such as, One Intel, Quality, Inclusion, Customer-first, Integrity and Fearless Innovation. I had first-hand experiences of these values come to life during my time as an intern as I was able to see the implementation of these in the everyday tasks we did, where everyone's opinions mattered, and the customers we dealt with were our first priority and we always kept on improving based on customer feedback.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement very much, I think it has been the best decision to do a placement as now returning back to university for my final year, it has given me so much confidence, better time-management skills, social networking skills and communication skills which I wouldn't have gotten if it wasn't for this internship. I gained a wide professional network and gained a lot of friends who were working as interns in other teams.

  • Be yourself, be approachable would be my advice to people applying to Intel as they value team-players opposed to leaders and they strongly value people who bring in passion and commitment into the workplace. New ideas and perspectives is something Intel strongly values, fearless innovation is one of their core values and they strongly believe in it.
