The Role
This has been the most enjoyable Job I've ever done. Rather than offering Interns a basic role, Intel provides their interns with real job roles and real opportunities to develop.
The team really respected me and accepted me as a real member of their team. My colleagues always valued my input and did their best to make my placement an enjoyable experience - and to make me want to come back!
Regularly given advice. The company is an 'open-door' company, meaning that no matter how senior the member of staff, you can always meet with them to discuss personal development, and get career advice.
Because this is a real role and not just a simple 'intern-role' - I was always as busy as i wanted to be. If there wasn't much going on, I'd go and look for a new project or new opportunity - and i was encouraged to do so
I was given the responsibility of handling multi-million dollar customer accounts, all over the world. After working their for a few months, I gained the trust needed to make my own informed decisions, without needing to consult my senior to get the 'go-ahead'
These are definitely skills I will take forward to any job going forward
The Company
Couldn't have asked for a better environment to work in. Perfect balance of work and fun.
Intel takes on a large number of Interns, and consequently has perfected the process. They provide fantastic opportunities if you are willing to work hard, and they reward hard work!
Hundreds of pounds of training courses. Some specific to the job - but many that will benefit me throughout my career - e.g. advanced Excel Skills
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Healthcare from home
Waiting on a job offer - hoping to come back!
The Culture
Not quite university life - but with about 60 interns across different aspects of the business, and loads of recent graduates, the social life was great!
Swindon = Cheaper than Cheap
Average Nightlife - like anywhere though - it is what you make of it!
Loads of External opportunities in the local area that Intel promoted
