    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The two-week placement was professionally planned, and by far the best I have experienced, as it incorporated a good balance of firm presentations, group projects, time allocated to working in different departments, and numerous social events. From the first day I felt at home and a valued member of the firm.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From the first day of the scheme I was provided with real work from trainees, associates and partners who I felt valued my input.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The graduate recruitment team were always available to answer any questions, and give any guidance needed over the course of the placement. The trainees, associates and partners were always friendly and approachable.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Busy enough not to have an opportunity to be bored, but never so busy that I felt overwhelmed by the work.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Just enough whilst working in the departments, and total responsibility whilst undertaking a group project that was set to everyone on the placement.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The time spent at the firm enabled me to apply skills learnt on the Graduate Diploma in Law course, and has provided me with an excellent foundation for my LPC studies.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone I met seemed to take their job very seriously, but were also happy and contented. There appeared to be a good work/life balance, and the firms graduate recruitment website truthfully depicts life in the firm.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • On day one we were all given a very detailed two-week schedule of events. It was great to see how much the firm valued those on the placement by making a concerted effort to fill our days with time working on the floors, social/networking events (such as cocktail making lessons, and meals with trainees) and presentations/workshops.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Partners, heads of department, and the graduate recruitment team took time to host presentations and workshops that not only promoted the firm, but also provided those on the scheme with valuable advice when it came to the recruitment assessment day at the end of the scheme.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Having completed a number of work placements with various law firms, my experience with RPC was by far the best, and this reinforced my decision to apply for, and subsequently accept, a training contract with a firm that has excellent long term career prospects and, unlike many of its competitors, is financially stable, successful, and provides its trainees with challenging yet varied work.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The firm provided a salary over the placement which adequately covered the cost of living/travelling in the centre of London.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great office location, that is surrounded by bars and restaurants and only a short cab ride from the city centre.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Outside of work meals, drinks and other events were often organised to enable those on the placement to chat to trainees and associates in an informal setting.
