    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was really inciteful and I was given an opportunity to experience everything that actuaries complete on a day to day basis.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given work that they would normally being doing and it felt as though I was trusted to fulfill this properly. Some of my work was issued to clients.

  • There was always support there. If you ever needed help with anything everyone was very willing to take the time to explain it to you.

  • There was always something to do even if it was filing.

  • I covered for the receptionist and was given a task that was to be issued clients however you were also given more mundane tasks as well.

  • It has helped me with organisational skills and maths skills as well.

  • It was a professional atmosphere with banter at appropriate times.

  • It was set up professionally and I felt that most of the information was conveyed to me well.

  • They helped me to understand things however if I was to become a full time employee I feel that I would receive slightly more guidance.

  • Waiting to hear what there demands for staff are for next year.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was two of us working together and we didn't really talk that much. Though I didn't expect there to be a social scene.

  • It was a reasonable price - given I was based in city centre Edinburgh!

  • I didn't sample it but there is definitely something there if you wanted to..

  • There was the summer event which I was involved in and also a cricket match against a client.
