The Role
Microsoft was a great company to work for and I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with them. They have quite a relaxed atmosphere but you are given quite a lot of responsibility, so its up to you to get it done.
Microsoft employ lots of interns so most people were familiar with having interns round, I was treated as an equal amongst my team although as it is a large organisation with very senior staff you can sometimes feel disconnected with higher managers.
Was never dropped in at the deep end, support and guidance was given to me at every stage if I asked for it, otherwise I was left to organise myself.
It was a perfect balance, there were busy times and quiet times but I never felt too much under pressure.
As much as you want, I managed several marketing campaigns with large budgets by the end of my year.
Great skills for working in any other company (large or small). I'm unsure of how relevant they will be to my studies until I return next year.
The Company
Relaxed atmosphere, a bit quiet sometimes but it was good fun. Some people worked very hard.
From application to leaving the whole process was very smooth.
You get offered a lot of different training opportunities including PC qualifications.

Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
They run a retainer scheme for students during the final year of Uni, after that you can apply for the Grad scheme. If selected by your manager you skip the first few stages.
The Culture
The majority of interns are based in Reading rather than London, but we still had a good time. Lots of other ex-interns were back at the company as well.
It's London! So expensive...
Victoria isnt great for nightlife, a few nice pubs, you're better off heading into central.
Opportunities in Reading are greater than those in London but I joined a sports club in London and had a good time.
