The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed the placement.
I was immediately made to feel part of the team.
My line manager was very supportive, showed me exactly what I had to do in a clear manner, and was happy to answer any questions I had. He also explained the wider picture of what part the work had to play in the business as a whole.
This changed on a day to day basis, but I always had work to get on with.
The work I did contributed to the work done by the team, so it was essential that I completed it accurately and on time.
I have learnt the basic principles of accountancy, and have had a good insight into what a career in finance will involve.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was quite relaxed and enjoyable.
extremely well organised and set up, however once placed with a team the experience depended mainly on the willingness of the line manager to develop the student, without much input/contact from the organising team.
My line manager spent a lot of time explaining the work to me, and also was happy to spend time answering any questions that I had.

I would be very happy to work for Centrica if offered a place.
The Culture
Accommodation was provided in university halls for those working in Windsor and Staines and this created an excellent social scene amongst the fellow students, one of the best parts of the placement.
The accommodation was organised and paid for by Centrica. The cost of socialising was quite high due to the proximity of London.
We lived in Egham with no night life during univeristy holidays, and we worked in Windsor where the nightlife was slightly better than Egham but still not great. London, and Richmond in particular, were reachable for better nightlife.
Only through the networking that took place amongst the fellow students.
