    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work I was given was very engaging and stimulating, and it required a lot of independence, which is definitely a plus. I wish the environment had been a bit more fast-paced though.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was very helpful and what I produced is now in place. Colleagues were really happy about my progress.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The placement required a great deal of initiative and I was very much left to myself, which can be stimulating. At times it could however be useful to have more guidance.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was as busy as I made myself. I was given a very general project and I designed the whole thing according to what I felt was better. I did not have strict objectives set by my manager, so I was just as busy as I wanted.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was asked to produce a system that would solve some current problems and then carry out the roll-out. The system is currently in use on a weekly basis.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I improved my presentation skills and my time management skills. I also pushed myself to learn new things and I have become a lot more IT proficient.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My office was very loud and not the best working environment. There is a general relaxed feeling which I do not particularly enjoy. It is quite frequent to see people do very little in a day or just chat with colleagues.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well organised but some of us were less lucky than others as we were placed in smaller offices, where there is no previous experience of summer placements.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company always provided me with the resources I needed.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have a job offer but I am unsure whether I will take it. If I do, I would like to be in a different office.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were only 4 of us where I was located.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Because I was placed in the North, life is quite cheap. The greatest thing was free accommodation provided by the Company.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 4/5
