The Role
I met some great people and performed some challenging work, I felt other people had roles more suited to my skills though but this meant I learned more new skills.
My work occasionally felt unimportant but overall I felt that my efforts were appreciated and my work had an impact upon the team.
The team always tried to ensure I was ok but they were very busy and occasionally i was waiting for some assistance for quite a while and couldn't really move on from the area I was struggling with.
I had some time where I didn't have much to do, then others where I was too busy but overall I had the right balance. During month end everyone is very busy then it is more relaxed between these periods.
Every task I performed was checked over by management which made me feel like I had much less responsibility, although I know it was necessary the majority of the time.
The majority of the techniques I used have been very applicable to a degree in management and many of my modules are accounting/finance related and so the tasks have really helped me gain a feel of how these are applied in the real world.
The Company
Good fun and great banter but also felt like everyone was pulling together towards getting all tasks completed.
Well organised but with minimal communication between grad team and placement students. It was very efficient communication but I felt there were a few small things I would have liked more detail on.
Sent me on an excel and powerpoint course and urged me to get involved in allsorts of activities.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Good company with great opportunities and a competitive grad scheme but I am currently focused on another industry.
The Culture
Fellow interns were great, like on big happy family. I love them.
Difficult to get too much socialising in because of the London prices but free gym and sports activities helped.
Nothing amazing but some good pubs and not too far from some great nights out.
I was constantly invited to play football and to away days and events by my team and department. Attended three away days in my time there including a sports day and treasure hunt.
