    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was given a real variety of challenging tasks as well as exposure to many parts of the business. The level of support given was excellent, as I was never short of people to answer any questions I had. This helped me make a really informed choice when deciding on my future career.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Despite my lack of experience, I was still given many pieces of work to complete. The work was always really explained and I was assisted with any issues I had.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • For each half of my placement I had a buddy, who both really took time to get to know me and tried to get me involved in as many different things as possible. Also I had a champion for each service line, who kept up to date with how I was getting on and made sure I was being the right amount of work etc. The office also had a HR contact who looked after use throughout.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Overall, the level of work was very good. Managers made sure they knew what you were doing and how much you had to do. Some days were busier than others which was just to be expected.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The work I was given was real client work which had quite a lot of responsibility attached. Although all my work was reviewed to ensure what I'd done was correct.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It gave me a huge insight into the business world. As well as developing skills like time management and communication.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was always lots going on in and out of the office. From getting to go on an away afternoon to playing on the tax netball team. As well as the odd drink after work of course!

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was kept informed of details regarding by placement from the time I got my offer. The structure of the placement was set up to give us as much exposure to different aspects of the firm as possible.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • All the interns spent the 3 days of our first day residential national training, followed by 2 days for local office inductions.
