    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Each day typically consisted of a focus on one or two business areas to learn about via panels and networking sessions. There were also some more interactive sessions where some employees or guests would come in and give insight into their business area through some demonstration. There would also be some sessions to tell us about UBS itself such as tours or quizzes.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I feel like I’ve learn how to network as I hadn’t done that before, and how to foster professional relationships. I also feel like I’ve developed better analytical skills through having to decide what business area is better for me because I had to infer what skills may be better suited for certain areas.

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • At first it was quite overwhelming because there’s so much new information but as each role/business was explained it was really engaging and interesting. the explanations where comprehensive and detailed and most of my questions were answered to a high enough degree to give me adequate information about each role.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • This was arguably the most positive aspect about UBS. Everyone seemed very friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy working at UBS. All speakers were happy to answer questions and this created the atmosphere that they really do want new people to join. So it was really welcoming and a generally happy environment despite most employees really having to commit to their job to the detriment of their work-life balance.
