    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As an RCM Engineer for Apache helicopters, my role would involve performing Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis on Apache helicopters to identify potential failure modes and develop effective maintenance strategies. I would develop comprehensive maintenance plans based on the RCM analysis findings and establish preventive maintenance tasks to proactively address potential failure modes and mitigate risks.

  • Yes, I have learned new skills. Specifically, I have learned how to perform FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and have gained knowledge in applying the MSG3 (Maintenance Steering Group 3) methodology. These skills have allowed me to analyze potential failure modes and develop effective maintenance strategies for various systems and equipment.

    Responsibilities

  • Yes, during my internship, I was given significant responsibility. I was entrusted with important tasks and projects that allowed me to contribute to the team and make a meaningful impact. I was given the opportunity to take ownership of performing RCM on an entire system independently, similar to what a Level 3 professional does. I worked autonomously while also collaborating with my team to achieve desired outcomes. This level of responsibility provided me with valuable skills and practical experience in a professional setting after completing my university studies.

  • During my internship, I received a considerable amount of support and guidance. The company provided me with a designated manager who was readily available to answer my questions, provide guidance, and offer assistance whenever needed. He helped me understand the company's processes, goals, and expectations, and provided valuable insights into the industry. Additionally, I had regular check-ins and feedback sessions to discuss my progress, address any challenges, and receive constructive feedback on my work. The supportive environment and guidance I received during my internship greatly contributed to my learning and professional development.
