    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Excel skills are essential, but easy to pick up on the job. I create chargelines for people to charge their time to. I update the database that collates people's charged hours, and segregates them into areas. I use SAP frequently to pull reports. It is always interesting as I complete a lot of ad hoc tasks, which I enjoy as I'm always learning. I am part of a very welcoming and friendly team.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have been able to develop my excel skills immensely. I thought I knew how to use excel, but I didn't realise how much I did not know. Everyone was kind in helping me learn these skills, and my knowledge has grown a lot. I have learnt how to use SAP to my advantage, I had no experience with this previously, but I'm now able to pull various reports. I have learnt prioritisation, time management.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have been able to develop my own scope of work which I am pleased with, as well as having some time for ad hoc tasks, which allows me to always continue to learn, as well as feeling as though I am making a contribution to the company. People rely on me for certain reports I pull which I like as I feel as though I have a good level of responsibility within the company

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Everyone is so supportive and friendly. I felt very welcomed when I joined the team. As expected, I had a million questions, which everyone was happy to answer. I was buddied up with a graduate who I was able to ask questions that I may have felt were 'silly questions'. I was also buddied up with a lovely member of my team who I could ask the more job related questions, so I felt as though I always had someone who could help me

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • It is a very professional environment. However, I feel very comfortable when in the office. Everyone asks how you are, and there is a lovely friendly environment there. We have plenty of social opportunities outside of work as well which helps to build stronger working relationships and boost team morale. The early careers community is a great place with lots of social opportunities and always having another intern or graduate to help if you need anything.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really love my internship. I would be keen to return for a graduate scheme if the opportunity arose to me. I feel that I have learnt a lot, and I have been able to put everything I have learnt at university to use throughout my placement. I am proud to be able to say I have worked for such a large company and made a successful contribution. I would highly recommend this opportunity to others
