    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As a manufacturing engineer, I'm part of the production engineering team at Boeing's manufacturing facility in Sheffield. The factory produces actuator parts for the 737 flap transmission. We're responsible for designing and improving the manufacturing process of these parts. This includes, but is not limited to, problem solving defects, defining standard work ensuring part quality and people safety.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Everyday has been incredibly valuable as manufacturing isn't an area I had much practical experience of from uni. I've gained a wide range of skills/knowledge, from CNC machine programming & in-depth GD&T to writing of standard work & relevant specifications. I've also been immersed fully into the company which has given the opportunity to work with a large variety of people and develop my presentation/project management skills.
