  • Booking in blood samples. Running blood samples. Cleaning lab down. Running QC with assistance.

  • Many new skills; How to deal with anxious patients What Biomedical Scientist actually do on a daily basis. How to book in bloods and check adequate ID is present. How to run samples on analysers and how to troubleshoot those analysers.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. By the end I was able to book in and run samples and certain assays independently. Some tasks still required assistance as I wasn’t a verified scientist.
