  • Analysing samples such as blood, CSF and faeces. Delivering patient results via email or over the phone. Ensuring tests were run and locating missing or problem samples.

  • I was stationed on my own after sufficient training, in charge of ensuring patient samples were analysed correctly and that results were obtained.

  • I enjoyed being in a role where responsibility over patients was involved, it made me believe I was helping people by ensuring fast delivery of patient results.

  • Be aware that the days can get monotonous and that a lot of the analysis isn’t manual, it’s automated. Despite that you can still learn about science and how tests are done and what they mean.
