Overview
There were no duties as of such, in fact I was given free reign to meet the researchers , learn about their projects and conduct my own. The fact that it was laid back was great for me as I was very motivated to do my own things there and i greatly benefitted from gaining skills and knowledge from the researchers!
Skills
I learnt AI object modelling and SQL injecting, as well as doing the previous year's Hackathon materials.
Business Insight
I got to understand what it's like to work in further studies in academia, and to see first-hand what a research lab is really like, which is something new to me as i have already worked various jobs in different industries.
Culture
Extremely friendly, open to educate and assist when stuck. They also went out of their way even when busy to share with me what they were working on and let me interact with the tools, simulations etc.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed it , and would of liked to stay longer!
Yes
Dont overlook the very valuable chance of a micro-internship! If you have a job or family troubles at home and cannot commit the extra year for a full internship, you can gain so much confidence, experience and knowledge which will help in study, job application and self-image.
