    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Each day is different, and each week is different. Tasks ranged from writing reports on hotels being valued by the team, researching about the hotels business rates, general area, recent capital expenditure. Other days consisted of site visits to hotels around the UK, meeting with the general manager of the hotel and gathering the most up to date information about the property, and then receiving tour of the property.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have definitely improved my time management skills, and also prioritising tasks, knowing what is more important and should be completed first. I have learnt about different valuation methods relevant to hotels, and about the information and data that is important and has a big impact on the value of the property/business. I have also learnt about different levels of management of hotels - franchise agreement, management contract etc.
