    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The SVS is a great initiative for aspiring undergraduates interested in the world of Accountancy. It provides a good learning experience to students and allows them to build on their soft and technical skills. On a day-to-day basis, you would be involved in mostly financial statement analysis, no matter which department you sit in. You would be exposed to other functions part of the audit process, which are quite fun to do (after practice)!

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was really nice to see how broad Audit is, with each department having a vital role in the firm and the industry at large. My perception of Audit has completely changed over the course of the Scheme and have learnt to appreciate its importance in the Financial Services industry. It was also great to see the range of roles available to students, making Audit a very attractive area to start your professional career in.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company has an amazing culture, filled with diversity and inclusion, and most importantly, collaboration. Even though most people prefer to work in a hybrid system, the office can get pretty active on certain days. There is not a big emphasis on wearing formal wear every single day, with most employees choosing to wear smart casual or casual most of the days. Everyone is very friendly, approachable and always willing to help.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight has provided me with one of the greatest opportunities of my life! I was able to meet so many different individuals from different socio-economic backgrounds, study and learn some great courses on my own and experiencing the life of someone working in one of the busiest cities in the world. I also got to attend different socials, enjoy some recreation time and work on a good range of clients.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
  • - Before applying to a service line, and before your interview, conduct thorough research about what the role entails. Some service lines may suit your personality, and some may not. - For all tests, make sure to do some practice tests to help you get a feel of the tests. - Connect with some existing employees and ask as many questions as possible. - The application process is pretty streamlined, so have fun while you secure your future!
