    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Joining the team on a client, we would have twice daily meetings that ran down what everyone in the team was doing and how they were gong to progress with their tasks that day. I would be put on tasks that i could continue throughout the 4 weeks so by the end of the time I could see what progress I was able to make. I stayed at client site 2 nights during my time, so on these days it would involve being in the office their and asking questions in person to the client to get answers faster and to speed up progress.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have definitely improved my ability to communicate effectively within a team and to seamlessly join a team without be a burden on the managers who are really busy. Also I definitely improved my networking skills, at the beginning we had a big induction with everyone from the country on the scheme and so was an amazing opportunity to meet people I never would have met otherwise. Also I improved my problem solving skills,

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • At the start it was definitely very challenging understanding about the business as there a vast range of job opportunities all of which have very different job roles and expectations, however this is good as there's a lot of potential to get a huge range of experience. In Audit, if I were to join the graduate scheme you finish that with a professional qualification which definitely boosts your employability.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Company culture and general atmosphere was amazing, when I was in the office everyone was so friendly and willing to help and always about for a friendly chat. Deloitte definitely puts a lot of focus and resources into company culture and mental health, in my short time there I could see how they prioritised it. The general atmosphere was very welcoming and kind, I never felt like a burden while I was working there.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight, I feel like the length was perfect to get stuck into a prject and seem some of the major components of an Audit but not too longer where it starts to get very technical and you're left without the knowledge to complete the tasks. It probably could've had a bit more structure, at times I was left without things to do and as a lot of the days are online now it would be hard to get back started on a task as every small question would require a teams call.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
  • Make sure that you make the most of every day and task that you're set. Make sure to reach out and get to know as many people as possible. Make sure that you don't get negatively affected by any sort of feedback. At the induction make sure to be as outgoing as possible as it's a very overwhelming experience and very easy to hide in the crowd and not tale advantage of it.
