    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Conducting annual counterparty reviews, analyzing credit profiles, assigning credit ratings and setting limits against out trading counterparties. Daily chat channel coverage with Front Office, to provide credit approvals/refusals on trades that failed automatic credit checks. Assisting credit with ad-hoc tasks. Researching, preparing and presenting portfolio reviews in front of a global audience.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Developed a strong ability to conduct detailed credit analysis, whilst strengthening my communication skills through discussing specific trades with sales and trading. Developed a sound knowledge of derivative products, as well as the credit risk that can arise from these products.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Responsible for my own, intendent chat slot where I would be the individual in charge of responding to live trades requests. Hence I was responsible for taking a prudent approach to our risk appetite, whilst facilitating additional trades where possible, via escalating to senior Credit Officers. I was given my own portfolio through which I was the main Credit Analyst and in charge of conducting reviews and processing ad-hoc requests.
