  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Creating and testing IP cores written in SystemVerilog. Verifying each IP core with robust regression tests and documenting it's capabilities.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was placed in a unique situation. Working on an individual project where I was the only engineer contributing software and RTL. In that way I was given a surprising amount of responsibility to develop IP cores that met the specification.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given many points of contact for help and support. Most of the support I received was informal. Asking questions through collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and having impromptu discussions based on those queries. Colleagues were always a great help, never impatient or dismissive.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Quite relaxed but focused on an outcome. There was never an overbearing pressure to meet any unrealistic deadlines or managers breathing down my neck. The culture and atmosphere of my office was generally very positive.
