    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really feel that i have had an amazing placement experience. To be able to work for such an exciting and innovative company whilst still gaining the valuable business and finance skills needed for my degree was great.I have learnt a many skills this year that i know would be transferable in other roles i may take in the future.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I really felt as though my coleagues listened to and valued my opinions and suggestions from the very beginning of the year. I was able to speak up in team calls and have people add to what i had said and commend my input. I was always encouraged to get involved and speak up whenever i felt necessary.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was great support. He supported me in learning about other opportunities throughout Microsoft and in other teams or areas i was interested in. For me, this was a key factor that has made my internship great. After all, as an undergraduate i really am not certain of what i want to do or the job i want to take up. I know i have interest in some areas though, so it was great to develop on this as well as deliver my day-to-day job.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As a Financial Analyst Intern, the degree of work fluctuation with the financial life cycle in my team, meaning at some points of the year i was extremely busy and others I had some time available where i could work on different projects and interests i have within the company.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel that the responsibilty i was given during my placement year was progressive and in coordance with the ease of which i could complete the tasks i was given. I was not thrown in at the deep end, i was given a good handover from my previous intern and as my ability to produce the work that was initially expecvted of me improved, more taks where then passed on.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I really feel the skills i have learned at Microsoft are adaptable throughout life and business. I know that my softer skills such as communication, presenting skills and time management have greatly improved. In terms of work, i know realise what it means to be a financial analyst from my internship. For me, workign at Microsoft has answered a lot of questions in my mind about what a career in finance could look like and i definately feel i am more employable from this year.
