    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Managing vehicle repairs at a variable scale (from one vehicle to a batch of 1000); deploying different Excel functions to analyse trends and spot anomalies/shortcomings with certain suppliers, routes, etc.; Constant communication with international colleagues (USA, South Africa, France, etc.)

  • Since the beginning of my placement, I have become proficient in Excel; developed skills in using Access; enhanced my communication and presenting skills; and improved my approach to crisis management and continuous improvement.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • The benefit of the placement scheme is that you are given real world responsibilities that can have a direct impact on the business. For example, during my time at Nissan I have absorbed the responsibilities of my former mentor and proceeded to facilitate the training of their replacement whilst continuing to fulfil daily tasks and manage widescale operations.

  • The company is making noticeable efforts to move towards better inclusivity and diversity. At a more local level, the office culture is supportive and welcoming.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed the placement and found it a useful experience and insight into a transnational corporation. I felt mentally stimulating more than I did challenging; nonetheless, by actively seeking additional projects and responsibilities I have been able to take on a bigger role through my placement.

  • Strive to be the best version of yourself, whether you are successful or not in the application process it is an excellent opportunity and learning curve to develop your professional and personal character. This mindset should be carried forward regardless of the outcome of your application and will support your progression in any role.
