  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is a planning engineer in the IFA department. Day to day this involves designing projects on CAD software to improve factory automation, as well as overseeing the manufacture and commissioning of these projects

  • Yes, I have vastly improved my skills in CAD, as well as my understanding of engineering manufacturing processes. I have also learned how to make effective and clear technical drawings. More generally my communication and confidence has also been improved from working in industry

  • I was given a lot of responsibility, left to independently design a full factory automation project and control it's manufacture

  • I received a lot of support, all the more experienced members of my team were more than happy to help me whenever I struggled or did not know something

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture I found to be a bit old fashioned, as many departments we worked with were somewhat averse to changes and improvements. Additionally, there is little diversity within the engineering department, however it was clear the HR department was working towards improving diversity and inclusivity in the company

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, as I was given a lot of responsibility and found my work very interesting. I also enjoyed seeing my skills develop in a tangible measure, from the start of my placement to the end l

  • I would encourage them to, however I would make them aware that there is a large variety of Placements available at Nissan and encourage them to specify the kind of role that they would like to work in before applying
