    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • A range of work from technical work including column, beam, slab, foundation design etc. Site visits and report writing. AutoCAD detail drawings. Revit modelling. Load takedowns. Analysis of structures using various softwares. Floorplan and elevation mark ups. Working 7.5 hours a day usually between 8:30-4:30 with a 30 min lunch break.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • My experience prior to the placement has been built upon tenfold. I am confident in technical work and experienced in the use of autoCAD and other softwares used by Arup. I am also much more confident in public speaking. I learnt how to complete calculations I couldn't do before and was taught easier ways to approach and complete difficult design work.
