    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual internship and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • It was 2 days that were jam-packed with a variety of sessions. One of those included a personal branding workshop where we developed our elevator pitches. Another’s were workshops focused on mergers and acquisition, and how this affects the ratings that they give out. Additionally, we had some case studies where we were broken into breakout rooms and given a particular case study to discuss in depth with a smaller cohort. This enabled me to have a variety of experiences.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The program allowed me to acquire knowledge about the financial services industry, particularly investment banking, and acquire hands-on experience in this field. Investment bankers often need to convey intricate financial concepts to both clients and colleagues in a straightforward and concise way. With the program, I learned to communicate my ideas effectively using presentations and written reports. Moreover, the program offered various opportunities for me to enhance my analytical skills by working on projects such as case studies and financial analysis exercises. As investment banking is a collaborative endeavor, the program provided me with chances to enhance my time management skills by working on tasks that require a sense of urgency.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • A lot more of the sessions were focused on personal development rather than all of the business and potential roles available. We learnt of various departments in the business but not the roles available. We learnt how the business operates and how it remains fair to all of the ratings that it gives out. However, more could have been given out regarding the potential roles and how they come together to form Moody's Analytics and Corporation.
