    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • When I arrived, I was greeted by my mentor, who then invited me into the team meeting in which I was introduced to the team. Daily interactions included being wholeheartedly spoken to by everyone from a multitude of departments. I did not have many interactions externally, however I did accompany a site visit. I was given tasks to do such as providing comps for both residential and commercial valuations.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to use excel a little better, as it never really was my strong suit. Subsequently it made me realise that a bit of my time should be spend getting comfortable with it. I learnt what to look for in searching for comps, as well as why some comps are not as useful as they may seem.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • We had lunch with directors on the Wednesday, where we were provided an explanation of each department in the office. The first thing I noticed was how excited everyone was to talk about their field. I was insightful and is making me think more, with a more clear understanding, of what I would like to do.

  • Be professional and show passion for the subject. Show knowledge of the current market. Be honest, open and have human responses, not just a 'how to get a job' answers. Show you stand out from the crowd as competition is high, but be confident in yourself, even if you feel it has not gone your way. - Small imperfections show you are normal human.
