Summer Placement- Mechanical Engineering, Building Review

During my internship, I was part of the Building Services team, working alongside other engineers and contributing to the completion of two projects. My day-to-day responsibilities included attending project meetings, working on design tasks such as designing heating systems for a building or recording air flow values in ventilation systems and reporting back to the team with updates on my progress.

This internship allowed me to develop both my technical and soft skills. I had the chance to work with a team of engineers on various projects and I was able to improve my teamwork and communication skills, while also gaining an understanding of the corporate world. I was also able to learn and work with new software such as IESVE, a thermal simulation software, and AUTODESK Revit for building design.

Although I was an intern, I was treated as a valued member of the team and given responsibilities that allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the projects. The tasks were challenging but not overwhelming, and the team was always there to provide support and guidance when needed. It was a great opportunity to learn and grow, and I am grateful for the trust placed in me.

I received a great amount of support and guidance during my internship at Arup. My managers were always available and had weekly meetings with me to discuss my progress. The team I was working with, as well as the other employees in the company, were incredibly helpful and friendly. They provided me with the support and guidance I needed throughout my internship.

The company culture at Arup was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The office atmosphere was lively and positive, thanks in part to regular events organized by the company to bring everyone together. The open working space also made it easy to interact and connect with colleagues, who were all approachable and easy to talk to. Overall, it was a great environment to work in and I was able to make new friends and connections during my time there.

My internship at Arup was an incredibly positive and enjoyable experience. From the moment I started, I was challenged with meaningful work that allowed me to learn and grow as an engineer. The team and colleagues were welcoming and friendly, creating a culture that was both inviting and supportive. I felt motivated and inspired to come to work every day, and was able to truly enjoy my time there.
