    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Depended on the desk I was rotating on. Varied from coding in python to analyse equity trading algorithms to learning about macroeconomic concepts from traders. I'd also provide daily updates on market data being released that day and on products/equities to watch.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Developed understanding of macroeconomic concepts, coding in python, the use of equity execution algorithms, the function of different teams on a trading floor and the general services provided by an investment bank.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Royal Bank of Canada
  • It's ok not to know lots about economics or finance. A general interest in tough questions and how to think can take you a long way. I have a physics background and was able to play to my strengths in maths and coding so just find what you're good at and use it.
