The insight introduced participants to the divisions of RBC through presentations, alongside interactive sessions. On the first day, we received training about investment banking and capital markets and on the following days, we worked on case studies related to these fields.
This insight was an incredibly useful experience that developed both my technical skills and my soft skills. The training gave me an idea of the technical knowledge that would be required when applying to a summer internship with RBC, while the case studies gave me an opportunity to apply that knowledge and work on my teamworking and presentation skills.
The atmosphere was very relaxed, which made me more comfortable asking any questions that I had about the firm or the roles. HR was extremely friendly and responsive, encouraging us to be proactive throughout the programme and reach out to representatives after the programme ends, which I believe truly shows the commitment of RBC to retain top talent.
The people are very open and personable and I truly felt like RBC encourages its employees to retain their individuality, while adhering to the same set of values. People were very candid about the kind of work they do and the lifestyle which it entails and I could tell that a common theme among people working in different divisions was that they are all motivated, analytically-minded and adept at time management.
Out of all the insight programmes I took part in, RBC's was by far my favourite. The people and the structure of the programme made me comfortable asking questions and getting involved and I did not feel any pressure while working on the case studies. The training was also extremely insightful and the information I received was perfect for my level of knowledge in finance.

Research the company beforehand and make sure you stay on top of the financial news! The application process in itself is not extremely difficult, but RBC are looking for individuals who are motivated and willing to learn.
