    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role consisted of hiring for the company's early career roles. My main focus involved recruiting for the company's Placement scheme for university students in the UK. I led the end-to-end internal recruitment and attraction activities, including collaborating with hiring managers and talent coordinators throughout the process. Regularly held presentations reporting on the progress of the hiring and coming up with ideas for improvement, plus I took ownership of a critical onboarding project which I learned so much from.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learned so much throughout my placement with Intel. I not only developed my professional skills but I was able to learn so much about myself personally and had access to a huge learning resource network with development and training opportunities. Considering my role was pretty busy and I had a lot of responsibility, I developed my time management and prioritization skills throughout my role, which are key skills needed for university and my future career.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was treated like every other employee throughout my placement, which I really appreciated, and in turn, it allowed me to grow and learn so much. I felt I had great responsibility and my manager and team were extremely supportive throughout the process, helping me with any difficult tasks and letting me learn from them as well. Having so much exposure to the business and knowing my work is making an impact in the organization is extremely valuable and empowering. It increases your confidence and allows you to grow in so many ways!

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • During the first month of my placement, I had dedicated training especially delivered by the previous intern in my role to walk me through my tasks and acted as a huge support network as I navigated the role initially. I was able to speak with other members of my wider team and understand the different roles and how we would potentially work together - which I found extremely useful. I also had access to a huge learning network of training videos that would help me get familiar with the tools used.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Although the majority of my placement was online due to the offices being closed during the pandemic, one of my favourite aspects of my placement was the great support network I had from the other placement students. There were 60 placement students, and it meant I got to meet many other students working in different roles to me which made my experience at the company really enjoyable. Once we got to be in the office, it was lovely to feel the lively work atmosphere where you are encouraged to try new things, learn from your mistakes and also give back to the community by getting involved with the volunteering committee, which is really great.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement because I got to gain experience in the area of work I wanted to navigate ahead of graduating, and it made me realize my passion for HR and investing in the candidate experience. I got to navigate other areas of HR other than recruitment and this allowed me to grow so much and expand my skill set. I came out of my placement with an extensive range of skills, having grown both professionally and personally.
