    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The Business Resilience Placement role requires working closely with members of the Global Business Resilience team (EMEA, UK&I, APac), the wider Experian team and different departments. To support the Regional Resilience Manager in delivering their regional plans, in the event of an incident and during exercise cycles. To present a review of existing plans and facilitate a discussion around potential improvements of the Business Continuity plans providing the latest best practice guidelines of business continuity. To train Business Continuity plan owners and representatives on their role and responsibilities.

  • I found my placement year extremely beneficial because it helped me enhance my professional skills and provided me with a lot of opportunities for development. During my placement year I developed my presentation and problem-solving skills. I learned that good collaboration and communication skills are important for performing the role because it can help you to achieve better results.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given enough responsibilities throughout my placement year. As in every new job, the first months where mostly focused on learning what the role represents, and the skills required to perform it. Once this stage was passed, I was feeling more confident in completing the tasks I was given and achieving good results which was beneficial for me and helped me have a good experience from my placement year.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance during my placement year. The team is really nice and they are always keen to help you in every way possible. Therefore, this made my whole transition from university life to a placement experience much easier than I expected. I really apricated the support and guidance I received because that helped not only in my professional but also in my personal development.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is inclusive and the people working in the company are always nice to help with anything. The company has an Early Careers team which regularly organizes different networking and social events which is a good opportunity to share similar experiences with people who are in the same position as you.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement year and the team I was working with. It really helped me develop a lot of skills and learn about Business Resiliency and how important that is to be implemented efficiently in the strategy and policy of each company nowadays, especially with the constantly changing economic and political environment. My experience was really beneficial, and I believe all of the skills and knowledge I gained throughout the placement year will help me in my further development

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Experian
  • Probably one of the most important things is to be truthful to yourself and speak positively about your previous experiences. Research the company and the role you are applying and prepare ahead of the tasks you are given in terms of the video interview or the assessment centre.
