    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

    • My role is to support regular tasks in the team in order to deliver client based work. This requires use of coding with SAS. I have the opportunity to write bespoke code and also work with other languages such as VBA.

    • Yes I have picked up so much knowledge. This includes coding knowledge and software knowledge as I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of applications such as Tableau. I have also developed a lot of skills that will be useful in the workplace and at university such as discipline and organisation.

    • Yes I was given a lot of responsibility. For example, I was asked to develop one of our existing products and my work is now used by clients on a weekly basis.

    • I had regular meetings with my manager to support me in prioritising my work and to help me meet deadlines. I also had a mentor from my team to help me on a day to day basis.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

    • The company organise many events to help us interact with our wider team e.g. quarterly social events such as bowling, pool tournament etc. We also have quarterly team meals.

    • Just be yourself and be honest. Before starting here I had never coded before, but I was open about this in my interview so that when I started the right support was in place for me to learn this skill.
