    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I completed ad-hoc tasks for my specific team fund finance which covers credit facilities for private equity firms. Day-to-day, this could involve credit rating investors, building excel models, and working on longer-term research projects on topics including market trends of interest to the team.

  • I strongly developed my ability to work in a corporate environment, communication and time management skills, and familiarity with PowerPoint and excel. The experience is definitely very worthwhile from a skill development perspective.

  • I was given a strong amount of responsibility, including working on live deals and performing time-sensitive and consequential work that would directly affect the client.

  • I received a large amount of support and guidance. There was frequent engagement with HR and the HR team constantly remained open to improvement and attentive to our feedback. My team was also very willing to provide me with adequate formal and informal training to aid my development and help me make an impact.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture was very friendly and open. Most bankers were very willing to take time out of their day to answer any questions I had, and my team were insistent on giving me a manageable workload that developed my skills. The general atmosphere was upbeat and positive.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed the internship tremendously. It was challenging and competitive, but the pressure was never too much that I couldn't find time to explore different parts of the bank, meet and learn with my fellow interns, and improve my skills.

  • Put in a strong CV and application questions and don't be afraid to be yourself during the interview. The firm has a relaxed and friendly culture, so there's no need to present an excessively careful image that isn't authentic. Make sure to have clear reasons for applying and read up on the firm.
