    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I served as an intern in this capacity for the global markets division in London. There are numerous business lines within the division, including credit, rates, FX, and cross-asset. Each of these areas had sales and trading responsibilities. The tasks would vary depending on the particular line, but I spent the majority of my time helping out the more experienced team members, giving them access to data analysis tools, and coming up with my own trading ideas by speaking with other people.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes. Connecting disparate components that make up financial markets and comprehending how they interact is the most crucial ability I picked from here. Creating price models and employing expert software to analyse how items interact with one another are the methods used to do this. In addition, because a lot of the work is done in Excel or Python, I developed my abilities in programming and learnt how to use numerous new packages to analyse data and test ideas.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • not excessively. Due to regulatory limitations, I was unable to do a sizable portion of the role because it needed certification. Nevertheless, I had the opportunity to support more senior team members and give them valuable outcomes and reusable tools for their job, whether it be on making business decisions or giving presentations to other stakeholders. I should point out that learning how the company runs should be your main objective as an intern, thus you should be proactive in seeking out learning opportunities and consequently taking on greater responsibility.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Depending on the function, I got a fair amount of assistance. The management will typically ask you to complete a certain assignment, and the majority of the data needs my research and input. However, senior staff members are always eager to assist when there is an issue, and occasionally I may get a lot of support from them just by talking to a few of them. I was able to work alone while also receiving support when I needed it.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Even senior leaders are eager to spend moments with interns and junior employees because of what the business considers an extremely friendly culture and the general openness of its workforce. We have many opportunities to learn from this in terms of company operations, the career, and other topics. In addition to being extremely diligent and highly qualified employees, people are also keen to impart their technical knowledge and abilities. Consequently, juniors should participate in any case.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I got the chance to address executives, ranging from the CEO to managers in various fields, and I completed important and difficult tasks for my position. Along with our work, we participated in a variety of extracurricular activities, such as charity work cleaning furniture, company-sponsored drinks after work and barbecues in the roof garden of the office building. All of these events were enjoyable. I think its fantastic for an internship that I was able to learn and have fun with some of my coworkers.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Wells Fargo
  • First, apply early. Wells Fargo typically wraps up hiring in February, so you'll want to apply before then. Knowing your CV and all you write on it thoroughly is the most crucial factor. Your past experience, university courses you have taken, and other topics are all subject to detailed and in-depth questioning during the interview. Since this is a bank and having a thorough understanding of macroeconomics will be helpful in any case, it will also be beneficial to have some solid economic knowledge.
