Consulting Intern Review

My day starts with a call with the business analyst and what needs to be done during the day. It mostly involves updating or finishing client deliverables. Later on, there will be a team meeting to update each other on progress. Networking with people within the firm is also very important.

Definitely developed my Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills a lot. I learnt how to make deliverables that is Deloitte's standard. Most importantly, I learnt how to network with different people and also developed my analytical skills as the job includes designing process maps to identify risks and provide an improvement to them.

Luckily I was given real work and responsibility when creating and updating deliverables. During my last week, I was also tasked with creating a proposal for prospective clients who faces similar problems to our current client and how our experience may be able to help them.

I was assigned a people leader and project mentor. These poeple helped me settle in and teach me a lot about the work a consultant does. There was never any stupid questions and they were very supportive even when you ask about very basic stuff.

The company culture was really great. The company is very flexible in regards to working from home or anywhere you want to really as long as the work gets done. People from my team and outside my team were really friendly and I have never seen any office politics from my time there.

Definitely enjoyed my internship as it also helped me developed my CV. A possible improvement would be to be able to have Company's execs to have a talk to intern on the first day to teach us things from his/her perspective.

Attempt to stand out from the crowd by being yourselves instead of pretending to be someone you are not. Also during case studies in interview, give unique answers instead of going with generic answers. Most importantly, be kind to people especially in the interview process and appear on time.
