Overview
I worked assisting a Senior Design Manager with all aspects of the design manager role. I worked based on site collaborating with the site team, client team, consultants and sub-contractors. My day to day job role was reviewing consultant drawings with the design team and finding buildable solutions. I work on design programming and management alongside writing up consultant appointments and more admin based tasks.
Skills
I have been able to develop my existing design and problem solving skills, whilst learning new job specific skills that have helped me become more efficient in my day to day tasks.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility and ownership of my own design packages, and reviewed with my Senior for feedback and advice. My site team developed trust in my work and with that gave me greater responsibility as my knowledge increased
Support & Guidance
I was supported daily by my Senior and line-manager. This inevitably helped me to develop and learn quicker than my peers who's managers had a more hands-off approach.
Culture
Everyone was very welcoming and helpful, often taking time out of their day to help and guide me where my knowledge lacked.

I loved my placement year, it really helped me to develop my subject specific skills and confidence whilst giving me an invaluable insight into the industry.
