    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I would mostly do investigative work, where I would analyze new features implemented in the software. I would create various CFD models to test these features, use Python to automatize my work.

  • I have improved my CFD skills, as CFD analysis has been my daily work routine. Siemens provides various training courses, such as personality development courses, business training courses, and various seminars.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given enough of responsibility as I had to finalize the implementation of developers' work. If I find something unacceptable I had to tell the developers to fix it as I had to approve their work.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I had 6 week training at the start of my placement, where I worked closely with my previous intern. However, even when the previous intern left, I had my team where I could ask freely any questions I had and my team would always sort the problem instantaneously. My line manager would always support me in case I have too much/too little work, help out with any issue that I may encounter.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • There has been quite a few office activities, including quite a few business dinners, leisure and social activities. There was an opportunity to travel to a few other cities on business related events.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have been a part of a helpful team, which would always support me in case of a problem. My work was varied and even in the end of my placement I learned something new and something different. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn new technologies and discover something that is beneficial in improving the product.
