    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My day to day is very much dependent on how I manage my time. I do lots of work with multiple stakeholders in the UK, Western Europe, META and occasionally the US. This could be working on ELR newsletters, updating HR partners, data presentation and analysis, creating and sending out communications, team leading, working with the mental health team and more. I have frequent meetings with my team and others but I mainly work independently.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Significantly developed my organisational skills ad my time management skills. The placement helps you work on your professionalism as you work with different stakeholders regularly. Working on Excel with with data has helped me build my data presentation skills by making me focus on story telling with data. Additionally, I have improved my interpersonal and written communication skills as I work on comms a lot and have frequent meetings on a day to day basis.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Lots of responsibility. The role is very independent and if you are not a self-starter you aren't likely to do well. You need a lot of initiative to meet deadlines and do the work well - especially if you want to do better than average and stand out. You can also ask for more leadership responsibilities if that is something you want to improve. Intel is great at giving you lots of opportunities to lead&improve.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Guidance and support have always been available whenever I've needed it. I meet with my supervisor/coach twice a week for half an hour and my manager once every two weeks. However, I can reach out to them whenever they are available or whenever I need additional guidance. I can also reach out to anyone on my team for help. With regards to mental health, I can reach out to the mental health team.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • There are different, inclusive employee resource groups and intern lead committees to take part in that are really fun! I'm a part of Women In Intel (UK WIN) and I have met so many people and attending networking and development sessions. I was also part of intern publishing where I made a bi-weekly newsletter for the interns. There are also other things such as charity and sports and social things to be involved with!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have really enjoyed working for Intel. The company is very inclusive and allows you to do what you believe you need to go to grow and advance. It's easy to integrate with other interns as there are so many of them you're bound to make friends. It also makes the transition easier. I enjoy the work that I do and the team that I work on and so I've had a great time this year.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Intel Corporation
  • Write a cover letter and make sure you express in your cover letter why Intel as a company and what your interests are in the role. Make sure your CV and cover letter are tailors to the role that you want to do and that you research the company before you attend your interviews. Be sure to stay professional during your interviews and practice interview techniques before you have your interviews. Don't worry about the skill levels of others at your assessment centre - you were invited for a reason!
