    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Maintaining the relationship between landlord and tenant managing the property on behalf of the landlord. Daily tasks include chasing arrears, writing reports, budgeting, visiting site, and dealing directly with tenants with ant queries they may have. I deal daily with my team and other members of the business eg credit controllers, external interaction include a good relationship with the client. I deal with alteration requests and follow that process through.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt online excel skills as i use this on a day to day basis. I have learnt personal skills such as communicating with external parties such as lawyers. Industry wide I have learn skills much as measuring and valuations. I have learnt such a wide range of skills from property terminology, to confidence giving presentations in front of peers.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was responsible for budgeting service charge, organising inspections, chasing arrears and dealing with service charge disputes. I was responsible for showing summer students the systems, and how to complete tasks. when queries came my way I was responsible for replying in a timely manner, I was closely involved with tasks such as "assignment of the lease" to give me a further insight into what the role entailed,

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a great amount of support from my team, and line manager. Additionally my APC counsellor who I had regular check ins with. Whenever I had a problem I knew I could easily go to any member in my team for guidance. The external learning Savills provided further guided me and helped me with my knowledge. I felt that everyone around me wanted me to do well and was eager to help in any way.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was inclusive, motivating and fun to work in. The wide range of activities and socialising meant I could network and meet people in other arears of the business and industry. The lunch and learn provide are a great way to increase knowledge and show the encouraging motivating culture of Savills. I felt very valued.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. The work was interesting and also challenged my abilities. As a result I feel I gained the most out of my experience. My team were great, keeping me involved, and ready to help. Externally from my team the culture is fantastic and I would love to come back.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Savills
  • Make sure that you give lots of thought into the current market, look at trends and me ready to talk about them. Research what other roles do in the business not just what you're applying for, for a better understanding. Have questions ready to ask - be keen. but most importantly show your personality and have fun with the process.
