Negotiating with other agents on requirements and where we can match requirements to our disposals. Managing client disposal portfolios to try and get the best exit strategy for them. Co-ordinating a nationwide team to manage this portfolio and hosting meetings to report back to the client. Monitoring and reporting on financial performance of the team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed critical time/project management skills and been able to prioritise work to ensure all deadlines are met to the highest standard and we are ensuring all clients get the service they require and deserve. Communication skills both in person and virtual have been improved through constant interaction with potential clients, current clients and other team members both national and in office. Negotiation skills have been vastly developed as is required day to do to ge thte bes tout come for clients.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given responsibility from the outset which although can seem daunting at first, does allow for an immense learning curve which is very rewarding when these lessons turn into successes for the team. The guidance you are provided with however allows for you to not be hand held but think for yourself and then be able to ask for help if needed.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Support and Guidance was readily available le when needed. The soft skill lessons you learn are incredibly important for industry wide roles and I think the guidance you are given isn't specific to your role as they see the wider benefit for you in gaining exposure and experience to all aspects of the industry.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture I felt was very people focused, there was a real feel that they cared about you and I always felt I could speak to someone if I was unsure, struggling or could ask anyone in the office for help or advise. The supportive and collaborative nature is very real and even across the national team everyone was always looking to help the other teams out or give useful information where they could, this helped massively on national clients where the relationships between teams is very strong.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I would say the placement exceeded my expectations and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the team/office. I felt I was a valued member of the team and would recommend a placement within this team/office to anyone. Although some of the team members have changed from when I first joined I think the same closeness and culture remains.

  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Savills
  • I would advise people to ensure they know the difference between companies and wat makes Savills different. Reach out and speak to current employees as it is a people industry and you need to find the right pathway for you. Its easy to think you lie something but you need to understand a bit about the role before. Ensure you know/can portray what sets you apart and why you should be emplloyed over someone else. I found although its important to gwt on with your team you need to have a diverse group of people. And as always do your research!
