Overview
Insight involved a 5 day hybrid scheme with Irwin Mitchell. During these five days we experienced and undertook tasks that a trainee would typically carry out. We also managed to speak to employees throughout the company to learn more about the firm.
Skills
I learnt new skills surrounding inheritance tax law and the calculations that are involved in these. Furthermore, I developed my communication skills through talking to different members of the IM team
Business Insight
It was exciting to see how IM was developing and the new roles that could be available in the future. This was exemplified by IM’s potential expansion abroad and thus the opportunity to use my languages.
Culture
The culture was made clear by the welcome we got from our trainee mentors. It was very friendly and put us at ease. The culture seemed one that was not characterised by hierarchy and allowed each person to express themselves and take responsibility
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight massively as it gave me an insight into the legal world. As a non law graduate it was extremely satisfying to carry out tasks that were outside my comfort zone
Yes
Research the firm and learn about the culture as this is something they seems to r big on
