    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Dealing with Environmental challenges for the UK headquarters. This includes biodiversity, carbon reduction, energy efficiency, resource efficiency, waste management. I have also assisted the global team on some energy efficiency targets. As a part of the central team I was able to collate information from all the sites in the UK, and assist where necessary.

  • Massive skills development. There is a huge environment of learning at Siemens, focusing on a growth mindset, saying I'm not able to do this "yet". I have developed my confidence in the corporate environment, with soft skills such as team work being developed as well.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was immediately given responsibilities, not too many to handle but enough that I knew I was trusted. I have lead projects as well as being a part of a team

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • A lot, I had daily meetings with my line manager when I first started, with these reducing in frequency as my internship developed. There is a large amount of training available and my team was very supportive

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company was the same as all companies, there are people that are happy, and those that aren't. There was a lot of good experiences, a few days out and hotel trips. Diversity and Inclusion was a huge priority for the company, with a lot of Early Career Professionals bringing in fresh concepts and ideas

  • A lot. Met some really great people, had a lot of laughs, and also learned a lot that I really believe will set me apart when looking for a job.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Siemens
  • Be yourself, be calm, and just show your passion. A large part of the recruitment process showcased that having all the skills isn't nearly as necessary as wanting to be better at what you do. The whole placement is an opportunity to grow
