    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • · Packaging Development including development process, trial organisation and execution, analysis and reporting results to line management. · Working with product insights and analytical teams to measure packaging attributes. · Communication of project updates to Line Manager. · Other activities will include arranging and conducting packaging tests and analysis, administration, submitting samples for laboratory analysis and reporting back to key members of the project teams. · Packaging prototyping and preparation. · Contribute to Health & Safety education and Health & Wellness activities.

  • During this placement I have developed both technical and soft skills. From effective communication to time-management as well as specific technical packaging considerations looking at machines, material and product.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • My role was very autonomous during my time. I was given a lot of responsibility to organize my own time as well as others. This allowed me to develop a lot of skills first hand, very quickly which proved invaluable.

  • I had frequent connects with my line manager as well as a team dedicated to placement students. I was also allocated a buddy in a different team to connect with frequently about non team specific matters throughout my time also

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • PepsiCo was a great company to work for. Outside of our team activities there are areas to get involved with from volunteering, celebration to development. They run a huge amount of local community activities also which are great to be a part of. In the office there are frequent events as well as regular virtual connects too.

  • This placement was a great insight into the world of work. I gained a huge variety of skills as well as experienced so many new things. The work was varied and everyone was always happy to help and pass on information.

  • If you love food and manufacturing this is a great placement to do. It needs a passion for the industry but can be very rewarding. Working with family favourite brands is something which is unforgettable.
