Overview
Daily roles across the week included working on pre-set work which included the agency and consultancy side of development, this was done in the office. Once this was completed I visited two different sites, the first of which involved showing prospective buyers around a property and the second involved viewing a large scale development site for an agency instruction. I was also able to help members of the development team throughout the week.
Skills
I found over the course of the week that I have been able apply many of the skills that I have learnt at university over the past year. I feel this has significantly developed these existing skills, as much of what is learnt at university is learnt in theory and being able to put it into practice during my time spent here as well as seeing members of the development team do so.
Business Insight
Over the course of the week my knowledge of the industry has significantly expanded, and I now believe that having done this insight program that it will help me lead to making a more informed decision when picking my future career path and in the closer future being able to gain work experience in more focused areas where I believe that I would like to work in the future.
Culture
Generally I found that there was a good positive atmosphere within the office, I was impressed by the level of communication between colleagues and the ability for different levels of hierarchy to mix from graduates to directors which clearly had a very positive impact which made for a better working environment and a more successful business.
Your Impressions
I have found the insight into the company extremely useful, as this is my first real insight into working within the property sector, has made the whole experience very enjoyable as I have been able to see first hand how a business like Savills operates.
Yes
Advice that I would give to others when applying to Savills would be, do your background research into the area of interest to which you are applying and through that you should be able to show you interest and motivation in your selected field and if possible show how you have done this.
