Insight week Review

My insight week has been a very diverse and exciting experience, enabled by my day to day schedule, which was thoughtfully integrated and arranged by my mentor, Kate J. I have been able to learn, in depth, the processes involved within varying areas of specialism. This encompasses; Rural, Investment, Development, Office, Hotels and Retail. The experience has been a refreshing mixture of both onsite viewings with prospective clients and engaging in-office tasks.

The insight week has enabled me to better my communication skills, through both in person and email contact with a large number of the friendly Savills Edinburgh team. I have also learnt some of the key aspects Savills looks for in a prospective tenant, that shapes the lease agreement in line with the Landlords best interests, in order to secure a deal where the terms are both favorable and financially reliable.

Time spent in office, I saw the day to day life of a Savills employee in different roles. The varied nature of my schedule has allowed me to gain a very informed idea of which areas best align with my interests, enabling me to develop and refine my career goals.

Staff were extremely open and friendly, often keen to engage and initiate conversation / Offer Advice. The company culture seemed very inclusive, regardless of position or experience.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Edinburgh Office, I have felt engaged and captivated throughout the experience.

I would recommend you not hesitate to ask questions and engage with the professionals in office if you are lost or do not understand something. Be sure to make note of everything you do in order to maximize your learning experience.
