    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • We had departmental overviews of different departments in Savills and an insight into the roles each person plays in the company. We had networking events with graduates and directors. In the Valuation department, we looked at reports and created documents detailing the assumptions in the reports, in addition to looking at a COI letter. We also created comparable schedules for different properties.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained confidence when networking with so many people across the company. I also learned industry specific skills, for example learning how to complete inspection forms, learning new industry-specific terminology with the Confirmation of Instruction Letter, and how this letter is constructed. I also learned how to complete and what to include in a comparable schedule, in terms of valuation using the comparables method.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • I found it helpful to talk to so many people from multiple departments, as I learned about many new roles which I had not heard of or considered before in terms of career development. Having been located in one department but connecting with people from other departments was a good insight into how the business operates as a whole.
