    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

    • Each day involved having to undertake a typical trainee task in a certain practice area. Alongside this there were presentations on different legal areas, question and answer sessions, networking opportunities with other students on the course and legal professionals (trainees, associates and partners), and social events.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

    • The vacation scheme took place online so it developed my knowledge and use of different online networking platforms. Additionally, the vacation scheme week was packed full of activities so it helped develop my time management and organisation skills to ensure all tasks were completed alongside attending all events.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

    • Really informative talks from professionals at different levels of the firm (from trainees to partners) and in a wide variety of practice areas. As well as information and networking sessions there were also tasks we had to complete which gave a greater insight into what would be involved on a daily basis in different legal practice areas.

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • Really enjoyed it. Even with the limitations of having it virtually, this didn’t impact on the experience at all due to the time and effort that had been spent by the firm organising the week.

    • Be yourself (as cliche as it may sound) there’s a huge variety of candidates from a diverse range of different backgrounds so don’t try and feel like you have to change who you are to fit a certain idea of what you think a law firm is looking for.
